What is the Apex Award program?
The Apex Award program recognizes the best designed health care benefits strategies and programs of innovative employers, brokers and consultants who are working to improve the health care experience for consumers. Submissions are based on the nominated program's overall approach to specific health care challenges, and the corresponding results in overcoming those challenges.

Applications are accepted from current UnitedHealth Group customers who have shown creative and trend-setting solutions to some of their most pressing health care challenges. A separate category honors brokers and consultants. Winners will be featured in hub magazine. By profiling these best practices, we hope the program furthers a dialogue on how organizations large and small are helping advance access to a more affordable, high-quality health care system for consumers.

This year, applicants will be divided into four groups:

1. Companies with 3,000 or more employees (non-public sector)
2. Companies with fewer than 3,000 employees (non-public sector)
3. Public sector (e.g., states and municipalities)
4. Brokers/Consultants

What is the deadline?
All nominations must be received electronically by Friday, February 12.

What is the nomination process? How do I apply?
Eligible companies may self-nominate for this award, or may be nominated by their UnitedHealth Group account team – with the approval of the nominee's senior-most benefits executive. The brief application form requires short answers to questions about the nominated program. All nominees must be willing to participate in an interview and photo shoot with hub magazine should they win.

What is the judging process?
A panel of independent representatives from the health care industry, including past Apex Award winners, and from UnitedHealth Group will review the applications and vote on the winners. Entries will be judged on a range of criteria, including:

• Recognition of a pressing health care benefits challenge
• Innovation and/or leadership in addressing the challenge
• Demonstration of impact and measurable results

What are the benefits to Apex Award winners?
Award-winners will be recognized at a reception and featured in hub magazine as innovative companies that are helping to shape the future of health care in America. hub is distributed to more than 20,000 individuals, including brokers, consultants, benefits managers, vice presidents and CEOs of the nation's largest employers as well as the consultant/broker community. Winners will have unlimited access to electronic reprints of an article profiling their company's innovative program.
